That's not the case with cactbot. It has it's own timeline (in the plugin files) that syncs as soon as the fight starts. There's only a few things that need to be read from the log during the fight, it also calls out the mechanics a while before they happen. It's basically bigwigs for ffxiv. You just need to make sure it's updated for new content.

Cactbot is generally used for Savage and Ultimate content that generally have a lengthy list of mechanics for a fight that only have one to five seconds between each one and fairly challenging enrage timers. Sometimes having automated callouts just helps when there's that much to focus on.
